[Humanoid tells him nothing?? What's an alien when they're basically all aliens?? Maybe he should just let the subject go.]
[But... if she's not quite human, then it was probably play to admit this much. He didn't really think it was subtle -- surely his bright eyes or fangs gave it away.]
Oh, well... I'm a vampire. Most humans are afraid of me, so I'm not really used to being around so many like this.
From the sound of it, the two cities are nearly at the brink of war... or at least, that's how it sounds to me. I'm sure they'd be suspicious if someone from the other side came to visit too often, even if they weren't openly loyal to one side or the other.
[It was no different from the tensions between regions back home, really. Though free travel of citizens wasn't nearly as controversial.]
Something out of place? [Is that how it works? He's not really sure, but in that case, it means he can't really look away then, can he?]
[He glances a little around the room, trying not to let his eyes linger on One and the sight of his own body struggling to stay standing with every crack of the whip.]
It... doesn't look that different?
[But should one of them try to walk too far, they'll realize the room is a lot smaller than it seems, with the two of them more or less trapped in an invisible glass box.]
It's starting to feel like everything here is a little random.
[Really, as horrible as the memory that Reign was forced to see was, at least that was the only one. He's had more than enough people peeking into his personal life with all this random memory sharing.]
I actually met Chuuya earlier. And a few other people who said they knew you, too... it sounds like you're pretty popular around here!
War... I see. [They kinda know about that, but it's disappointing.] I don't really know which would be best then... I guess I'll have to make a decision sooner rather than later. [It's a bit strange to make such a big decision entirely on their own--Strange, and a little scary. They don't want to make the wrong choice, after all.
They blink, focusing back on Shell at that question.] Where I'm from, there was only the school. It was the only building on the entire island, so... I'm not entirely sure what to expect from a city... [They look a little concerned]
Indeed it does. It makes you wonder just what else may happen. You never know.
[ Having seen one of Shell's memory was enough for Reign; he didn't want to unintentionally pry too much. If Shell wanted to share more with Reign, then he'll let his friend do it in his own time. ]
Oh, really? [ Blusy blushy. ] I'm not that popular. I'd say that in a few month's time, you'll probably be more popular than I am, especially with your good looks. [ First, they'll have to deal with Shell's dark eyebags and pallor. ]
[ And with that answer Crowley does decide to venture out some, just to see if there were some possible solution. A door that that they could open, or perhaps a hidden latch... at this point anything fuckin' helps, but it quickly dawns on him that they're trapped.
Trapped in this hell of a BDSM memory where Shell's apparently been a bad doggy who probably didn't drink his milk or something. ]
Fuck. [ He hisses out, his irritation only mild. ] Is that on repeat, or something? [ He points a finger at the scene once more. ] Do you guys have a safe word or something? Maybe if it say it it'll stop.
I don't know about that... [Not after the embarrassing memories he shared with like dozens of people. He's gonna have on hell of a reputation if this keeps up.]
[But yeah, his appearance could use some work right now. Not that Reign would know the exact reason for it yet.]
Anyway, I'm feeling pretty tired. Do you normally stay up all day? It feels weird to say I want to sleep already, but... [But they just spent the whole day walking here and he feels like he could sleep for a few month months tbh.]
[Says the guy who looks ripped?? Don't leave it all to the crypire to get them out of here, gosh.]
[But okay, he's the one who wants out of here the most, so he turns and tries to force through the wall with his shoulder. Predictably, it does nothing-- but a second try, and a crack appears, floating in mid-air.]
[He has to be, with that completely sincere expression while saying completely insincere things. It's the only explanation he's willing to accept right now, because the thought of actually having to go through with tying himself up to escape this room is just too ridiculous.]
[ Chuuya would tell Reign later about having seen Shell's memories, though Reign didn't know that now, nor did Chuuya go into details. FORTUNATELY? ]
This place certainly has a way of surprising us, though not often in a good way.
[ Cringe. All right, pushing those horrible thoughts aside for now. The hostage situation was bad enough, Reign didn't want to imagine what other awful things may happen in the future. ]
Not all the time. I tend to sleep during the afternoons, and after midnight. It took me a while to get used to the schedule since I've jobs as well.
[ How strange was that, vampires like them working at odd hours they weren't used to. Either way, Reign moved to pick Scorch up, then motioned for Shell to follow him. ]
You might as well rest for the day. I know it's been very tiring for you. Here, I've prepared a room for you. [ More like Reign had kept it unoccupied the entire time in the event when Shell woke. It wouldn't be as lavish as the bedroom Shell once lived in, but it was homey enough, and Reign hoped it was to Shell's liking. ]
[ That protest is almost like music to her ears. She almost, almost laughs, but manages to split her lips into a smile instead. Or maybe it's something closer to a shit-eating grin. That is, until his confession. That, uh -- ]
A vampire? [ Blinkblink. ] But aren't they supposed to be really scary? No offense, but you don't look all that intimidating to me...
It was pretty different. I'm the son of a noble, so we never really struggled with money or possessions... like I said, this is the first time I've ever sat at a campfire, or even slept outside.
[He'd call himself spoiled, which is true to some extents -- but he never particularly felt that way.]
Even everything around us looks so different to me. Where I'm from, everything is covered in cold and darkness... and seeing this many humans in one place is almost unheard of.
[ Her eyes might be slowly sliding to Shell the Younger in all his flopping glory. Trying to imagine him in an intimidating light is... not... going... well. He seems like such a soft boy. Too soft, too floppy. ]
A little?
[ It's not really a question OK. ]
I guess I'll have to take your word for it. That's not the image you're trying to cultivate here, is it?
[ She's guessing... no, not that this display would help if he were, but then, 'here' is a strange place all around. No intergalactic empire, no Galaxy Police... ]
[ Ah! That's something Nash can understand pretty well. Up until he was exiled, he'd never slept outside either. He'd never had to cook, or worry about where his next meal was coming from, or how he was going to pay for it. He's about to say something, when the sympathetic expression on his face twists into one of surprise. ]
[Right now, Reign could have offered him the couch and a blanket, and he would have been delighted. The room certainly meets his approval as he walks in, taking a seat on the bed.]
[Only then does he look up at Reign with a tired but very sincere smile.]
This is perfect. Thank you, Reign.
I'll probably have a lot more questions for you tomorrow, so... see you in the morning?
[ Reign entered the room as well, standing on Shell's side when he sat, running his fingers through the other's blond locks. How long had it been since he was able to touch Shell like this? ]
It's nothing much, but you're welcome.
[ He gave a nod, leaning in to press a soft kiss to Shell's forehead, a soft smile on his lips when he pulled back. ]
Mnhm, we can do that. Rest well, Shell, and good night.
No... it isn't. This world's already so much different from home... it would be nice if I didn't have to--
["Master Shell? Are you in?"]
[The memory behind them is still on-going, and now it seems someone is knocking on his bedroom door... while Shell is still tied up. Memory-Shell struggles up to his feet, tries one last time to free his arms... and with no other options, quickly tip-toes over to the closet and hides himself inside.]
[WHICH SHELL LOOKS MORE TRAUMATIZED it's kinda hard to say. Especially when the door opens, and a tall, brutish-looking vampire butler peeks into the room.]
Ryoko's eyes slide from Shell to Memory-Shell to the vampire butler at the door to Memory-Shell to Shell as she slowly leans forward, her gaze inquisitive despite that equally slow upturn of her lips for poor Memory-Shell's failed efforts. She leans back toward Shell, perhaps a bit too close, raising a hand to guide her now hushed voice into his ear or as close as possible. She may be squinting a bit now as she asks all too seriously: ]
Isn't that the worst place you could possibly have hidden?
[In contrast, Shell isn't going to bother being quiet about it, leaning back a little when she starts getting too close.]
Where else was I supposed to go? This is the second floor! I couldn't just jump out the window, I'd die!
[In more ways than one, probably, since he's still tied up.]
[But indeed, it's not a very wise choice. The Butler looks around the room for a few seconds, before sniffing at the air (?? like a dog??) and then slowly making his way towards the closet...]
["I thought I asked you to tell my son of my return. What's taking you so long?"]
[And in that moment, Shell is saved! By the appearance of an older man who looks strikingly similar to Shell himself, save for a much colder look in his eyes. Even his voice carries a chill with it, as if flooding the room with ice.]
[But it's more than just his voice -- there's a presence to him as he stands there, something that they'll be able to feel even though this is only a memory. Even without actively using his pheromones, the power they carry follows the man around strongly enough to make the very air in the room feel heavy. The butler seems even more effected by it, visibly trembling in his master's overwhelming presence.]
["L-Lord Pain, sir! I was just looking for him, but-- he's not here." "Then why are you still here?" "F-Forgive me, sir! I'll go check the study right away."]
[The butler bows profusely before quickly slipping out of the room. But as the older man turns to leave, he hangs in the doorway and looks pointedly at the closet. The words he offers his son are no warmer-- "When you're finished behaving like a child, come meet me in the drawing room."]
[He just assumed the guy next to him was human! Was that rude? It did seem like there were other species of human-looking people here, but it's hard for him to tell unless they're a vampire.]
[Which he's still a little sheepish about admitting. But he hasn't had too many bad reactions to it -- maybe he's just being overly cautious?]
I'm sorry, I just assumed you were a human. Since I can tell you're not a vampire... like me.
